Indiografie
Our association has edited the book Indiographies. Essays and short stories written by the natives of Brazil, published in Italian by the publisher Costa & Nolan (Milan) and presented in the spring of 2007 in various cities and at various institutional settings.
The book, divided into two sections (a non-fiction and other fiction) presents various types of texts written by five authors of several Brazilian indigenous groups who had the opportunity to develop literacy skills following the rate of college classes or personal training experiences.
This editorial initiative is an attempt to give voice and space to the rising need for communication by the natives of Brazil, a chance to express different views of reality and tell different stories, or different ways of the same story.
The book represents the first collection of literary texts of Brazilian natives authors published in Italian, and is one of the first initiatives of "Native Contemporary Thought" project carried out by our association, in partnership with Grupo Atopos, the research team of the School of Communication and art of the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP).
Through an analysis of the broader impact of new communication technologies in contemporary society, the project aims to identify and collect literary, artistic and audiovisual expressions of Brazilian indigenous world, to promote them in a broader context of cultural mediation aimed at producing publishing initiatives, film festivals, exhibitions, meetings and conferences on the subject.
